Billboard companies make huge profits from erecting their boards all over the country, mostly without any planning permission or consultation, while people doing a bit of graffiti or fly-posting are often arrested and fined. We at HAHA are heartily sick of the billboard companies forcing their unwanted ads down our throats, so we have decided to make it increasingly difficult for them to make there profits by ruining our environment. No doubt lots of us all over the country are equally sick of the sight of their ads. Luckily, there are some easy ways to interfere....

If you can’t get the billboards down, why not subvertise, use them to publicise local events, news and views, or turn them into community art spaces?

Put pressure on the local council to take down boards without planning permission (which will be most of them). Oppose advertising hoarding companies requesting planning permission. Contact the billboard companies directly; perhaps visit them and see how they like having unsolicited posters put up where they have no choice but to look at them…
